Film Scoring Portfolio
Crafting a musical narrative for film requires more than just melody — it demands an intuitive connection to the emotional core of the story. In my collaboration with British director A.L. Nott, I’ve had the privilege to compose scores that amplify the emotional tension and psychological depth of his films. Each project has been an
exploration of human vulnerability, intimate struggles, and the complexities of human relationships.
Below are the three short films that showcase my personal vision and approach to film scoring.
“Spirit Realm”
(Love’s Fragility and Emotional Distance)
In this short film the music accompanies a series of intimate moments, sometimes silent, sometimes conflicted, between the characters, mirroring their
emotional disconnect and inner turmoil.
Combining delicate piano motifs, ambient soundscapes, and minimal orchestration, the score immerses the audience in an introspective and melancholic, sometimes
painful, atmosphere. It underscores the internal conflict between holding on to love and the inevitability of letting go.
Key Themes: Longing, Fragility, Inner Conflict, Melancholy
“Spirit Realm II: Ghost of Love”
(Love, Pain and Regret)
Here the score weaves a minimal tapestry of intimate piano lines, a soft distant violin, and atmospheric textures that evoke the quiet longing of unspoken emotions. The music captures the characters’ emotional struggles, heading towards the inevitability of regret.
With a focus on pain and nostalgia, this composition creates a soundscape that resonates with the universal pain of love that lingers beyond words.
Key Themes: Intimacy, Nostalgia, Pain, Regret
“Weasel Frankie Vs. Uncle Elton”
(Psychological Tension)
A gripping 70s style short film centred on a tense dialogue between a young man in trouble and his uncle, a private investigator who’s got a secret to hide. The score for
this film is a departure from the emotional intimacy of the previous works, embracing an electronic sound environment to heighten the tension and unease.
The music builds a gradual crescendo of suspense, with hypnotic synths, fragmented rhythms, and dark ambient textures that reflect the characters’ growing mistrust and hidden motivations.
This score evokes a world of shadows and secrets, keeping the audience on edge from start to finish.
Key Themes: Intimacy, Nostalgia, Pain, Regret
A unique approach to storytelling through music
In all three films, my goal was to create music that not only supports the narrative but elevates the emotional journey of the characters. Each score was tailored to the
director’s vision, providing a unique musical identity that resonates long after the final scene fades.
